Tips to Keeping Your Freezer FULL!

Here's some advice I like to give to those who want to keep their freezer STOCKED with raw meat goodies for their carnivore pets! 1. If you haven't already purchased an extra freezer, that should be your first priority! You will never be able to take advantage of great deals with limited freezer space. Your best bet? Search Craigslist and your local Facebook Yardsale groups. Don't be afraid of getting an older freezer either, as long as it works it will serve you (and your pets) well! My freezer is old and it runs as cold as the Arctic! 2. Take advantage of grocery store discounts/manager's specials! This is where I get ALL of the fish I feed my pets. Being we are in Florida, fish is available year round. If you don't know where your grocery store's local discount meat section is, just ask! If you want to be even smarter, go to MULTIPLE grocery stores, even the same company, because they all carry different things (for example, the closest Winn Dixie to me always has beef heart and beef kidney on discount, but the second closest usually has turkey necks, wings and drumsticks, and my nearest Publix almost always has chicken necks). That may sound obsessive, but ask any Raw feeder and they will tell you.. YES! They are obsessed and borderline ADDICTED to getting GREAT deals for their pets! Could you blame us?
3. Look at Asian and Hispanic markets. They usually have different cuts of meat that you normally wouldn't come across. I've seen duck drumsticks, goat, even pig heads! Another bonus of going to these markets? They're usually cheaper than a grocery store would be! 4. Ask local butchers for scraps. There are certain parts of animals that humans wont or can't eat, and that's where our pets come in! All of the meat that a butcher has that isn't human grade, or the extra bones/organs that he usually throws away are your GOLD MINES! 5. Network with local Farmers/Hunters. If you get in contact with a local farm, they could let you know when an animal passes away (depends from what) and can either sell the meat for you cheap or donate it to you all together. Hunters usually clean out their freezers before each season, so getting to know them is a MAJOR opportunity to get proteins that you can hardly find in any store (like deer, rabbit, etc).
I hope that this has helped some of you!
As always if you have ANY dog related question feel free to ask!
