The Benefits of a Raw Food Diet for Dogs

Okay, okay. I've got it: Raw food is great for my dog. But what are the benefits I'm going to see?

1) Pearly White Teeth All that bone crunching is doing more than giving your dog his needed Calcium: It's also scraping all the tarter off his teeth and preventing any more from sitting there too long. The longer your dog has to chew something, the more teeth cleaning action he's getting. For example, one of my personal favorites are Turkey Necks (Chicken Necks/Duck Necks for smaller dogs).
2) Better Breath Honestly I'm not 100% sure why this happens, but you don't have to know how it works to know it DOES work! And you don't have to give up smoochin your pooch because he's eating raw meat either: That's also a myth!

3) Shinier Coat/Skin Eating the right food for his body is going to show on the outside as well! Any pre-existing skin conditions will disappear with a continued Raw Food diet. Because his skin is healthier, you will never have a stinky dog smell ever again! I actually get compliments on how my dog doesn't stink and other dog owners want to know my secret! What's another added plus? Healthier Skin/Coat equals a significant reduction in shedding!
4) Smaller (and less smelly) Poop Yes, it's true! Those gigantic landmines in your backyard are a thing of the past! One small poop a day is considered completely normal for your dog now (My 80lb pit mix usually poops a little larger than rabbit pellet sized once a day. It's great!) Another cool thing? Because his diet is 100% digestible, it usually disintegrates into the earth in just a few days. *Why? Because he is absorbing everything his body needs from his food, there is hardly any "waste" left over!*
5) More Energy Because your dog was filled with useless carbs before, he could never run his fastest or play his longest. But now? Now his body is utilizing all of the fuel of Raw Food, so get ready to toss that tennis ball a few more times!

6) Weight Loss/Weight Gain What's simply magical about feeding a Raw Food diet is the fact that it seems to know where your dog needs the most healing and seemingly fixes the problem itself! If your dog is a little on the heavier side, he will soon have more waist and a nice tummy "tuck" he should have. If he's a rescue and needs to put on weight, because his body is gaining so much from his food, it will help him get his weight back up!
7) Chronic Illnesses Improve Now I'm not saying that if you start your 10 year old dog on a Raw Food diet that his cancer will subside, but what I am saying is that his condition will improve dramatically. Dogs that were immobile before a Raw Food diet soon are moving more and getting more of their personality and spirit back. Their eyes may clear up, their joints less painful: It may not make their life any longer, but it will definitely make the quality of their time immensely greater.
AND IT GOES ON AND ON AND ON!!!
With all of these added benefits it's also a great feeling to know that you are providing your dog with the absolute best food that nature intended. Some call it "Species Appropriate", some call it "Biologically Appropriate". Whatever you want to call it, it is what his body is made to thrive on. You have the decision to eat badly, to splurge on brownies or the Dollar Menu, but your dog doesn't have a choice. If he wants to survive he will eat what is given to him. Make sure your choice for him is the best one possible.
I leave you with this last thought: If you purchase a Bearded Dragon at a pet store, the clerks will tell you to feed him Insects. If you purchase a snake, they will tell you to feed him small mammals. Why, all of a sudden, do we feed "Dogs" and "Cats" dehydrated brown nuggets? What is so different about them?
As always if you have any dog related questions feel free to ask!
